Which options should I select when Installing RentalDesk NX

RentalDesk NX Workstation Install

When installing the RentalDesk NX workstation, you are offered two choices

• The first choice "Install the Free version of RentalDesk NX Startup" , will install the limited edition of RentalDesk NX . This version has restrictions on the number of pieces of equipment and customers that can be stored in the database. This version is completely stand alone, is single user and does NOT use the RentalDesk NX server . The STARTUP version (only) requires a password to install
  
  
• The second choice "Install a RentalDesk NX workstation" is the choice to make if you have paid for RentalDesk NX , whether single or multiple users. If you are upgrading fromRentalDesk V1 or from RentalDesk NX STARTUP , then we recommend that you install this version in a new folder.

RentalDesk NX Server Install

When installing the RentalDesk NX server, you are firstly offered three choices (Note RentalDesk NX STARTUP does NOT require the server to be installed).

• The first choice "New Install" is for users who have purchased RentalDesk NX and have not previously used RentalDesk V1 or RentalDesk NX STARTUP . It will install an empty database and will install your security license from the Customer ID you received with your purchase.
• The second choice "Upgrade Install" is for users who have purchased the full copy of RentalDesk NX and who were previously running RentalDesk NX STARTUP . This install will install your security license from the Customer ID you received with your purchase and upgrade your RentalDesk NX STARTUP database to the full version.
• The third choice is for users who had previously purchased RentalDesk V1 . If you have previously purchased RentalDesk V1 , whether you have installed it or not, please select this option. You will then be presented with a second windows with three more choices

• The first choice (Choice A) should be selected if you are currently using RentalDesk V1 . This install will upgrade your RentalDesk V1 data and move your RentalDesk V1 security token from the RentalDesk V1 folder to the RentalDesk NX folder. You MUST make sure that no one is using RentalDesk V1 before selecting this option.
• The second choice (Choice B) should be selected if you installed RentalDesk V1 , but didn't get around to using it. This install will move your RentalDesk V1 security token from theRentalDesk V1 folder to the RentalDesk NX folder and install an empty RentalDesk NX database. You MUST make sure that no one is using RentalDesk V1 before selecting this option.
• The third choice (Choice C) should be selected if you purchased RentalDesk V1 but didn't EVER install it. This choice will install an empty database and will install your security license from the Customer ID you received with your purchase.
