You will need a copy of the 64 bit server - this can be downloaded from here:
Then you need to gather the information needed to successfully move your server software and database.
- On the OLD SERVER, open the HireTrack NX server administration screen. You need to be doing this from desktop of the old server, open your web browser and navigate to http://127.0.0.1:10088
- Click on the Alias tab and write down or save the alias path to your database.
- Click on the Token or License Manager tab and write down or save your Product Key or Customer Code.
- On the old Server, open the Services Window. This is usually found in CONTROL PANEL | ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS | SERVICES
- Locate the NAVIGATOR SYSTEMS NX SQL Server V3 Service
- Right Click on the Service and Choose PROPERTIES and Press the STOP BUTTON
- Select DISABLED from the menu and press Apply and OK. This will permanently disable the service from starting on the old server.
- Open Windows Explorer and Navigate to the folder containing your database as noted in Step #1
- Right click on the folder containing your database and select COPY (make sure that you not only select all the *.NX1 files but the Documents subfolder. There may be other subfolders, such as BackupXXXXXX and Send_To_support - these can be ignored).
- Navigate to the new server, and decide where to TEMPORARILY place the database on your server while you install the server software. Paste it so the database is now copied onto the new server. (Note: You could copy this information to a flash or stick drive and then physically carry your database to the new server and copy from your portable drive to the server.
- Install the server software.
- NOTE: During the installation, you will be prompted as to whether you have a product key. Please select 'Install as Trial' and make a note of the product key and send it to us so we can update the new server to the correct number of users and make it your new token
- Go back to the location of your database folder that was copied from the old server and right click on the folder to select COPY.
- On the New Server, use the START menu to locate the NX Server Data Location - the default is C:\ProgramData\NavigatorSystems\ but your installation may be different
- Once that folder is open, navigate to the NX SQL Server subfolder and paste your company database folder into this folder.
Which will result in something like
NOTE: You can place your database anywhere on the new server, BUT then you will need to set the appropriate access rights for the Navigator_SQL local user. If you place you database in to the folder created for you, then the access rights will be automatically set correctly. - On the New Server, use the START menu to locate the NX Server Application folder, which is typically located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigator Systems\ NX SQL SERVER
and locate the application: NLS_Pack.exe
and double click it to run the utility - Using the Navigate button, locate the folder that contains your database that was moved from the old server, and press the UPDATE TABLES button.
- Open the server administrator window on the new server (open your web browser and enter http://127.0.0.1:10088) and click on the alias tab.
- If you no longer require the test database automatically installed, you may delete the 2 aliases for DEMO DATA and LIVE DATA and press Save Changes.
- Enter your company name or database name in the Name Window and the path to your database in the Path Window.
Press SAVE CHANGES
Your system should now be ready to go, and Client machines should "find" the server upon startup.
